Looking forward to my Study Abroad in Israel this upcoming J-term!

This upcoming J-term I will be studying abroad in Israel! I am so stoked for this opportunity. I'm starting this blog to keep you informed as to what I'm doing to prepare, what happens while I'm over their, and how if effects my life once I return from my trip. Some of the prep-work we're doing includes researching places we will be visiting while in Israel, these places include;
  • The Wailing Wall (Jerusalem)
  • The Temple Mount, Dome of the Rock, Al Aksa Mosque
  • The Via Dolorosa
  • Mount of Olives and Gethsemane
  • Bethlehem and Church of the Nativity
  • Herodium, King Herod's palace and tomb
  • Qumran, the Essenes and the Dead Sea Scrolls
  • Masada (Herod's palace and site of the Roman Siege during the first Jewish rebellion)
  • Caesarea, ancient port city and Roman administrative center
  • Akko, port city and Crusader site
  • Tabgha and the Mount of Beatitudes
  • Capernaum
  • Nazareth
  • Sepphoris
  • Megiddo
Before leaving on our journey we will also be reading Abraham: Journey to the Heart of Three Faiths by Bruce Feiler, viewing the IMAX movie Jerusalem, and watching at least of of the following documentaries about the Israeli-Palestinian problem;
  • With God on our Side
  • Encounter Point
  • 5 Broken Cameras
